Abdulla
Abdullah is a delicate Arabian gelding. He's quick and very responsive and carries himself with a proud Arabian strut that many guests love. He's an excellent ladie's horse.

Abe
Abe is a very gentle gelding. He came to the T Cross from Utah, where has done a lot of trail riding and team penning. Always the gentleman, Abe provides safe, comfortable rides.

Arrow Flynn
Arrow Flynn is an energetic and reliable bay Quarter horse. His name comes from an unusual brand on his shoulder which incorporates an arrow and the letter "F".

Batman
Batman is a renaissance horse; he does it all. This beautiful dun packs, ropes, and trail rides with ease. A powerful gelding born on the T Cross, Batman is as beautiful as he is skilled.

Big John
Big John has a gentle, easy demeanor. He came from the Diamond A ranch on the south end of the Wind Rivers where he was used for trail rides, pack trips, and trophy big game hunting.

|
Big Pete
Big Pete is half of a buckskin team of draft horses purchased from the Amish. He is extremely powerful, yet possesses a gentle temperament. At about 2,000 pounds, he is the gentle giant on the ranch.

Big Queen
Big Queen and her brother, Big Pete, are a pair of Amish-trained draft horses. Together they provide weekly wagon rides at the T Cross. Their Fjord/Percheron heritage gifted them with beautiful buckskin coloring, unusual in draft horses.

Big Tom
Big Tom is the diesel of the ranch; he’s strong, steady, and reliable. A full-blooded Percheron draft horse, Tom is very gentle and has carried many guests for hundreds of miles. His personality quirk of groaning dramatically when he is cinched or mounted often requires explanation to guests.

Blue
Blue, a powerful mare, has been at the T Cross since 1993. She throws beautiful colts and exhibits an athleticism that is a bit unexpected in a horse her size. She is smooth and graceful, and a good jumper. As she grows older, her “blue” coloring is fading, so each spring, staff eagerly wait to see what shade she will be when she sheds her winter coat.

Bo
New to the ranch in 2011, he has been used for children and adults regularly. Bo walks out well and provides a fun ride for everyone.

Bob
Thanks to Bob, hundreds of kids at the T Cross Ranch have enjoyed their first experience on horseback. Whether it’s out on trail rides or trotting around barrels, Bob’s gentle nature and petite size gives kids confidence and puts big smiles on their faces.

Bridger
Bridger is a strong Paint horse who began work at the T cross in 2008. His tri-colored coat elicits admiration from many guests. He’s sturdy and reliable as well as beautiful.

|
Butch
Butch is a powerful draft horse, bred and trained by the Amish before being purchased by the T Cross Ranch. He is extremely sure-footed and reliable, causing one guest to remark that he liked to let Butch operate on “auto-pilot” when out on trail rides. Butch and his sidekick, Sundance, are also trained to pull as a team. His is an excellent pack horse as well as a trail horse.

Charlie
Charlie is a stout sorrel Quarter Horse who has worked at the T Cross since 2007. He is a consistently pleasant horse, solid and sure-footed, who has provided many guests with an enjoyable week of riding.

Cherokee
Cherokee is a flashy little Paint horse who has been at the T Cross since 1994. Many children have enjoyed their first horseback experience under the care of Cherokee (and more than one child has begged parents to buy him!).

Chester
Chester is a sorrel Morgan Horse who has worked at the T Cross since 1997. He was purchased in Casper, Wyoming, and comes from a ranch background. Chester is reliable and steady, and has been used regularly as a ladie’s or children’s horse at the ranch.

Clyde
Clyde's constant disposition makes for fun riding in the rugged mountains of the Absaroka wilderness. Clyde is tall,strong and sure-footed.

Deacon
Deacon is a tall, jet-black gelding with a lovely blazed face. He is refined and elegant, always a gentleman.
|
|
|
Dodie
Dodie is a beautiful young roan, descended from Hancock breeding. Born on the T Cross ranch in 2006, she has a gentle temperament, a fast gait, and is a good trail horse.
|
|
Duke
Duke is the somewhat of an institution at the T Cross. Born in 1983, he’s one of the oldest horses on the ranch and has probably covered more T Cross miles than any horse in the herd. His desert Mustang breeding endowed him with amazing strength. Even at his advanced age, he’s still in great health and is used regularly throughout the season. He is unflappable and navigates tough terrain with ease and grace.

Earl
Earl is a well-built Quarter Horse who spent many years at the Spear-O-Wigwam dude ranch. He is quick and energetic, well-trained at cutting cows and an excellent trail horse.

Eddy
Eddie is known to many of the wranglers as “Steady Eddie”, which pretty much says it all. Eddie is a Quarter Horse from Utah who sports an E-shaped brand from a former owner on his hip.

Ella
Ella is a beautiful dun mare, born in 2000. She is light-mouthed, responsive and willing. Although she appears dainty, her Quarter horse breeding gives her good muscle confirmation and strength. She is a favorite of many female riders who visit the ranch.

EZ
EZ is a compact, stout Quarter Horse, purchased from a ranch in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 2007. He’s a great trail horse who gets his name from a brand–EZ–on his hip.

Freckles
Freckles is a tall, flashy roan Quarter Horse who came to the T Cross in 2007. He is a solid, mountain-bred ranch horse who loves to work and consistently provides guests with a comfortable adventure in the mountains.

|
Garey
Mark named Garey after Gretchen's mother, since she purchased him at a sale in Cody, Wyoming in 2011. Gentle and good-natured, Garey is a dainty horse but a solid mount.

George
George, a large bay Quarter Horse, came to the T Cross by way of Riverton, Wyoming. George’s primary personality trait is is never-ending calm; nothing upsets George or even makes him bat an eye. He’s a good walker and has provided many novice riders with a positive learning experience.

Gus
Gus is a beautifully proportioned strawberry roan. Born in 2007, Gus is still in training. An extremely intelligent horse, Gus learns rapidly and is gaining new skills every day.

Hammer
Hammer is a tall Palomino Quarter Horse who gets his name from a hammer-shaped white marking on his forehead. He is strong and ambitious, always ready to go, and a fun mount for experienced riders

Hank
Hank came to the T Cross in 1991 from the Crow Indian reservation in Montana when he was 2 years old. Prior to coming to the ranch, he was selected to carry a child with disabilities in a special parade in Washington, DC. A well-proportioned bay Quarter Horse, Hank is the definition of a good dude horse, always well-mannered and calm. He has carried guests ranging in age from 6 to 84 and takes good care of all his charges.

Hazel
Hazel is a stout mare, born on the T Cross Ranch in 2003. She is named after a former ranch cook. Tall and strong, Hazel sports beautiful multi-hued roan coloring. She’s very versatile, good at trail rides, packing, roping and dragging. Of particular note is how little breaking Hazel required. Owner Mark Cardall reports that he merely saddled her up and starting using her without incident, leading guests on rides from her back immediately.

Hippi
Hippi is a compact Haflinger gelding, a breed developed in Austria that traces its ancestory back to the middle ages. He is a friendly animal, energetic but very smooth. Well-muscled and adroit in the mountains, Hippi also charms many guests with his thick, wild mane–it’s this long unruly hair that gave him his name.

Howard
Howard is the court jester in the T Cross herd and provides guests and wranglers with much entertainment. As the only spotted Appaloosa on the ranch, Howard’s hind-quarters are easy to see. He is known for his Houdini-like ability to escape any enclosure if he so desires, and he has been witnessed jumping rail fences in the style of a moose, rearing back on his hind legs from a standing position. Howard has been at the T Cross since 1991 and is a gentle soul who has carried hundreds of guests.

Idaho
Idaho is one of the most frequently requested horses on the T Cross Ranch. She’s a beautiful compact Quarter Horse, who is a pleasure on a trail ride as well as quick and responsive at cutting cows. Her name is a bit of accident; when a wrangler at the ranch was trying her out, T Cross owner Mark Cardall asked “What are you going to name her?” to which the young man replied “I dunno.” Mark heard him incorrectly and started calling her Idaho–the name stuck.

JC
JC is an amiable black Percheron cross who is amazingly athletic for his size. He was named after owner Mark Cardall’s mother, Joyce Cardall, who assisted in his birth in 2002. Raised and trained on the ranch, JC is a serious cowboy’s horse–he ropes, packs, drags, and does anything else that is asked of him. JC has led so many rides that he automatically turns sideways at gates, allowing the cowboys to open them without dismounting.

Jiminy Cricket
Jiminy Cricket, named because of his rounded nose, is the old man of the T Cross Ranch. He was Gretchen’s horse when she was young and has taken care of countless kids. In his younger days, he was used for every kind of ranch work imaginable. Jiminy has personality that just doesn’t quit and is a horse that everyone loves.

Kolter
Kolter is a young roan half-draft, born in May of 2011 in Washington. She's enormous for her age!

Latch
Latch was born on the ranch in 2007, a beautiful roan with Hancock Quarter Horse breeding. He is sweet, smart and endlessly curious. He is well known for his ability to opens gates. Ken Neal gave him to his grandson, Ethan Cardall. Latch is currently being broke to ride.

Little Boy
A stunning dun half-draft, Little Boy was a surprise package. Unbeknownst to Cardalls, Little Boy’s father, Batman, bred one of the T Cross Percheron mares before he was gelded. Little Boy is a big, strong animal with a wild mane who navigates the mountains with ease. As a note of interest, he first wore a halter when Mark decided to use his mother in a 4rth of July parade and towed Little Boy along her side, a definite crowd favorite.

Mac
Mac is tall black half-draft with amazing speed gifted to him from his Quarter Horse sire. Extremely versatile, Mac packs, and trail rides effortlessly. He is also a good roping horse and has been used for roping competition in rodeos.

Maybelline
Maybelline was named because the thick black definition around her eyes looks like she has overdone her eyeliner. New to the ranch in 2011, she provides a steady ride for beginning riders. According to Mark, "You could ride over a grizzly bear and not ruffle her make-up."

Melvin
Melvin has been at the ranch for over 15 years. Although his breeding is from Appaloosa stock, he is solid white. Melvin is absolutely reliable, a marvelous mountain horse who has never bucked, even in his younger years. He is night blind, but follows the other horses out to graze each evening.

Midnight
Midnight is a young half-draft whom the cowboys started breaking in 2011. He's calm, strong, and sure-footed with great potential.

Mini Mac
Mini Mac is a solid, strong horse with a wild mane. He is currently being broke by the T Cross cowboys and will enter the guest string in the future. He greatly resembles Mac, another T Cross horse, except he is smaller and more compact;hence, his name.

Moon
Moon, a sorrel Quarter Horse, is a gentle mare. She is a favorite on the ranch, who is constantly requested by return guests.

Nibbles
Nibbles spent some time as a reining horse, where she performed well. She is an excellent trail horse and has done it all.

Nika
Nika is Mark’s personal horse and is the epitome of selective Quarter Horse breeding. He is a tall, strong bay with wonderful confirmation. He is spirited and fast and has tremendous acceleration.

Pepper
Pepper is a grey Quarter Horse who has worked for the T Cross since 2003. Prior to being purchased by the T Cross, he was used in barrel racing, queening and outfitting in Star Valley. He is often used as a child’s horse, but is strong enough to carry adults when needed.

Poco
Poco is a flashy black and white paint who commands attention from his coloring. He is a well-behaved, compact gelding who is a favorite among the T Cross ladies.

|
Poncho
Poncho is a sweet sorrel Quarter Horse who came to the T Cross by way of the Shirley Basin. He has been used for most of his life as a trail horse, and this experience shows. He is a solid, gentle animal whom guests enjoy riding. For reasons unknown, his tail is always very short.

Reese
Reese was born on the T Cross in 2005. He is a stunning red roan with Hancock Quarter horse breeding. He is quick and smart, and currently Gretchen claims him as her riding horse.

Sam
Sam is a Shire/Quarter horse cross with amazing tri-color paint markings. He is tall and muscular with a mischievous personality. Sam is quick and athletic, far more agile than you would expect in a horse his size.

Shrimp
Shrimp is a solid mountain horse who loves to work. He is consistent and light-mouthed, a pleasure to ride.
|
|
Sonny
Sonny is a bay Quarter Horse with an excellent disposition. He is a great trail horse, who is always steady and reliable who has worked at the ranch since 2006. He carries guests, including children, with confidence and ease, helping new riders to enjoy learning a new skill.

Sterling
Sterling is a powerful Quarter horse who came to us from the Spear-O-Wigwam dude ranch. He is versatile and gifted with beautiful silver coloring, hence the name.

Sundance
Often referred to as the poster horse of the ranch, stout, strong Sundance has appeared in many advertisements. He and his partner, Butch, were purchased from the Amish as a draft team. Sundance, who is a Percheron/Quarter Horse cross, is a versatile animal, good on the trails, excellent as a pack horse, and beautiful when hitched to a wagon. Guests often remark on his Rastafarian dreadlocks, which grow longer each year and add to his unique character.

Superman
Superman, a grey/white Quarter Horse, has worked at the T Cross since 2007. He has a very soft mouth, which means he responds with very little pressure on the reins. Prior to coming to the T Cross, he worked at a ranch on the Muddy Gap, where he was used a great deal as a cow horse.

V-Bar
V-Bar is a muscular compact Quarter horse. She is adept at navigating the Wyoming terrain with ease. Named for a brand on her hip, she is easy to spot among the other sorrels in the herd.

Washakie
Washakie is a splashy red and white Paint who has worked at the T Cross since 2008. His petite size keeps him working steadily as a favorite ladie’s horse. He and his fellow Paint, Bridger, are inseparable when turned out to graze.
